Inside-out...

It has been said, ‘ The best and the most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt by the heart…’
From the
dialogue ‘Et, tu Brute’ from Julius Caesar, to the true love of ‘I too had a love story’…
dedication of ‘PS-I love you’, to the SRK’s ‘Haar kar jitne wale ko baazigar kehte hain’…
deep message of ‘The kite runner’ to the friendship and humor of ‘Just Friends’…
history of Harappa to World Wars, Green Revolution and Industrialization…
From the journey of Chetan Bhagat to the era of ‘Jaadu ki Jhappi’and ‘all is well’…
And now, from the reality shows to facebook…
Yes, we live in the world of words, literature and emotions. These feelings are the soul of our lives. Aren’t they?? For me they are. Give a thought, why we still remember these words/dialogues? It’s because they are famous. They are not famous because they were written, it’s because they have a perfect bridging from creators to the promoters.
Emotions rule us. If they don’t, then why we still have Goosebumps when our National Anthem is being sung? Why we have the greatest joy when our country wins a match?  Why the whole nation celebrates when our movies win Oscars? It’s because emotions, literature form an integral part of our lives. We can’t imagine our lives without them. An author writes because he has a story to tell, he wants his story to reach the people out, he has belief that we’ll love it. But, these feelings are dumped into a bin when reality curtains-up.
We are in the world of over-ambition, passion, name and fame. Sometimes ,I feel we are facing a severe disease of greed, insensitivity and have become blind in the race for appraisal. Writers have a story to tell and publishers wants to get their ‘0s’ multiplied. It is the darker shade of literature at present. Scaling emotions for money…is it fair??
On the other hand, authors too must understand , writing is next to worship. Writing to gain royalties is not done. Development of a good understanding between these elements of literature is very important and has become a need for today. If this scenario continues, it would be very difficult for a person like me, to dream of getting my book published and my work respected.
People connect a lot with literature they read. Both the ends of authors and publishers should understand it. It is their duty to give us an errorless and pure form of work. Yes, money matters. I know,it really does a lot, but my dear friends not more than the dignity of the  profession we assign to ourselves. It’s high time and this should be realized.
Neither I am an author (but yes I dream of becoming one..if the scene changes..), nor am I a publisher. I am one from the lakhs who have learned a lot from the books we read. And, I feel there has been a degradation in the literature that reach to us- the common man. I know I am no one alone to decide this but I do have a right to speech and expression from our constitution. I want to share my emotions to the world but not at the cost of business. Reason behind this can be the authors, the publishers or the lack of bridging of emotion and responsibilities over-shadowed by the greed for profit and trade.
At the end, I am left with some questions in my mind
When I give my dreams a rewind…
If I wish to be an author,
How many doors will I have to knock?
How many rejections will let me into shock?
I write with all my dedication and love,
I am afraid to discover the darker shade of cove,
Are my emotions contracts? My words scaled to guarantees? My feelings with bonds?
Yes, I know money matters,
For this sake I can’t let my dreams shatter …
Every coin has two sides and thus, I believe, if both the ends play their  proper bit in the flow of motion, soon we’ll rise above the greed and regain our lost beauty of literature and emotion. And that day, a girl/boy like me would set his/her  wings to fly and surely let his/her dream of becoming an author a dare and fruitful try…

nicely written parul..i really appreciate the way you have beautifully conveyed the message..but somehow..i do not understand one thing.i beg your and all others authors pardon for saying this..but think about it..do we really need a term "being an author"..do we really write to get it published..or is it vice versa..atleast in my case it was vice versa..i never thought of being an author..even today..when i write..i donot think of making money or even getting any recognition..i just write-because i feel the urge to write and to lighten up my mood and mind...sometimes i feel like sharing my work vd ppl..sometimes i keep it to myself..wtevr the case is..i write for my own self..and in such case..it doesnot matter to me whether i get lower royalty..or if it gets published or not...so for all those who aspire to be an author..i just have to ask one thing..why do u wish to be an author? is it because they are treated like a celebrity? or is it because you wish to connect with ppl or is it because you just feel happy when you write..
decide what you want and then automatically your vision in today's publishing industry will change drastically..

and as for what quality reaches the readers, i believe they are all very intelligent and learned ppl..they know what they want and that's why not every book that reaches the markets becomes a hit..sometimes even popular writers have to face criticism..sometimes even debutantes get popular..good work somehow gets recognized..and bad work anyhow can not sustain..so rightly said by you---write with emotions and automatically people appreciate.:)

p.s-- sorry for such a long comment..:P

Firstly...thank you sooo much for the appreciation. And i feel privileged that you took so deep interest to what i tried to express.
You would be surprised to know that this was my first question too when i started writing this article that 'why being an author' is it required? Then i gave over another thought and tried discovering the other side of the story.
I thought if there can be 1 in every 5 person pursuing engineering,if social evils can prevail every second in a day, if with every person there's a different life and different emotions, then why not 1 in every 20 can dream to be an author?? We can't stop anybody from dreaming. When i thought in this manner i got the answer.
Further mam, i realized if my single mind can thing in 2-different ways in 2 moments back to back, then we have a population of millions, and thus there can be as many way to look at things as many eyes.

I second you in the another question raised by you that yes, i too on a personal level do not feel that eveything must be published or we should write to get things published. They are many people who keep their work restricted to themselves or their blogs etc.Even i am one of them.I love writing but never gave a thought to get them published till now. But, now i feel, its my deep desire to make my feeling,my emotions,my words to reach to people. There are so many things in my mind that i want to shout out loud and emote my feelings, but that would be too rude and not right and thus i would love to get my work published. This is my personal opinion and it may differ from person to person

Regarding the quality of work that reach to us, I alone cannot decide this.I believe everything is relative. But facts reveal yes there has been degradation and due to many unwanted reasons this conflict between publisher and author has risen. Our team aims to give our bit to solve this conflict.

Thank you again mam and i hope to have guidance and support from people like you.We need it.

Mam my reply is longer..M sorry too :)

i think there are a very few potential authors left around. You're one of those!
This is a high spirited piece of work. Great going.
You might find interest in reading something that relates to post modernity like that of Jean Baudrillard, Jean Francois Lyotyard, etc.
Hope to see an update again. :)
